Can-build | Solving the Can-build Problem Using Constraint Logic Programming
نویسنده
چکیده
Solving the can-build problem | a subtask of Materials Requirements Planning | means establishing an executable production plan when constraints on the availability of resources occur. This paper investigates how Constraint Logic Programming can be used to solve this real-world problem. An algorithm is presented that returns the most general solution according to those constraints which are known explicitly. Since this solution cannot be used directly in a planning tool, we investigate how the user can be supported to understand, analyse and reene the constraint answer set maintaining his domain and technical terms. An interactive decision support mechanism has been provided that allows to add management information and intuitive knowledge by specifying constraints implicitly via a command interpreter. This paper is a collected and revised version of Nitsche 94a] and Nitsche 94b].

Stochastic Approach to Vehicle Routing Problem: Development and Theories
Stochastic Approach to Vehicle Routing Problem: Development and Theories Abstract In this article, a chance constrained (CCP) formulation of the Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP) is proposed. The reality is that once we convert some special form of probabilistic constraint into their equivalent deterministic form then a nonlinear constraint generates. Knowing that reliable computer software...
متن کاملACLP: Flexible Solutions to Complex Problems
In this paper we present a new system for non-monotonic reasoning performed using abduction. The system, called ACLP, is a programming language based on the framework of Abductive and Constraint Logic Programming (ACLP) which integrates abduction and constraint solving in Logic Programming. It is build on top of the ECLiPSe language for Constraint Logic Programming (CLP) interfacing (and exploi...
متن کاملAutomated Modelling and Solving in Constraint Programming
Constraint programming can be divided very crudely into modeling and solving. Modeling defines the problem, in terms of variables that can take on different values, subject to restrictions (constraints) on which combinations of variables are allowed. Solving finds values for all the variables that simultaneously satisfy all the constraints. However, the impact of constraint programming has been...
متن کاملCSP-104: Constraint Propagation for Loose Constraint Graphs
In this paper we investigate whether we can improve propagationbased finite domain constraint solving by making use of the constraint graph to choose propagators to execute in a better order. If the constraint graph is not too densely connected we can build an underlying tree of bi-connected components, and use this to order the choice of propagator. As search progresses forward, the constraint...
متن کاملA Coordination-Based Framework for Distributed Constraint Solving
This paper gives an overview of DICE (DIstributed Constraint Environment), a framework for the construction of distributed constraint solvers from software components in four categories: (1) variable domain types, (2) (incomplete) solvers, (3) splitting strategies, to build search trees, and (4) search strategies, to traverse these search trees. DICE is implemented using the Manifold coordinati...
